This is a brief look into the Voice Typing feature in Microsoft Windows 10 and 11.

Introducing Voice Typing in Microsoft Windows 10 & 11

Voice Typing is a fantastic feature in Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 that will appeal to many users. The functionality simply allows you to turn your voice into text, without the need to type out whole words or sentences.

Before you can use this feature, you will need to ensure that online speech recognition is enabled to use the Voice Typing feature.

If using Windows 10, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Speech > Turn on ‘Online Speech Recognition’

If using Windows 11 navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech > Turn on ‘Online Speech Recognition’

How do I do this?

Firstly, make sure:

• You are connected to the internet
• Have a working microphone
• Have your cursor in a text box

Now, let’s find out how easy it is to use this great feature!

1. To initiate Voice Typing, simply press the Windows 11 keyboard shortcut – “Win + H“.

2. The “Listening…” alert will appear, and you can then dictate whatever you wish to appear as text.

3. When you have finished, simply say a voice typing command, such as “Stop listening”.
