Did you know you can drag and drop files onto the file upload dialog in Business Central?

Summary

As a Business Central user, you may often be required to add files and documents to a record to capture supporting information.

Traditionally, you may have done this by navigating through your folders and selecting the files you want to use – this can be a time-consuming process!

The good news is that there is a new Drag and Drop files loading feature, which became available in the Business Central 2023 Wave 1 release in April 2023.

This new feature will enable you to save time, by simply dragging and dropping the files you want to add to a record, onto the file upload dialog.

How do I do this?

Firstly, open the card that you would like to attach a file to, and in the fact box you can select Documents under the Attachments area.

Click attach file(s) and the file upload dialog box will pop up, enabling you to simply ‘drag and drop’.

NOTE: The browse function is still available for you to use, by selecting the ‘click here to browse‘ option, highlighted in the image above.

Once the document is attached, you can open it by clicking on the underlined filename.
