Find out how to display your data hierarchy visually in Microsoft Dynamics CRM
14 April 2022
Summary
Many data records in Dynamics 365 CRM are natively connected in parent-child relationship.
Account, Case, Product are examples of these. Any data record and indeed custom data can have a parent-child relationship.
This data hierarchy can be displayed visually to aid understanding of your structures.
How do I display my data hierarchy visually?
On an Account view (or any other hierarchy enabled data), find a record where you have this little symbol.
Click on the symbol.
This will display key information and the hierarchy relationship of this record. This data relationship is entered onto an Account record as the Parent Account.
Extending this concept
Any data entity can be configured to hold a parent-child hierarchy relationship.
The data displayed on tiles in the hierarchy can be amended to display the key fields of your choice. This setup is typically implemented by a user with customiser or system admin role.
