How to use the recent and pinned lists in CRM to save time
11 January 2023
Summary
Do you often navigate and find the same set of data during your working day? If so, using the Recent and Pinned lists in your Dynamics 365 CRM environment can save you a few clicks and searches, making you more efficient!
How do I do this?
Recent record
Every time you navigate to a view, this view is automatically added to the Recent list. Similarly, if you open a record in CRM, this is also automatically added to your Recent list.
For instance: You were looking at the ‘My Active Account’ view and then open the record ‘Blue Yonder Airlines’.
By opening the Recent list, you can easily return to recently accessed data by clicking on the item in this list. This list will show the last 10 items accessed.
This a great time saving tip and reduces the navigation steps needed to locate records that you have most recently been working in.
Pinned record
Any of the items in this Recent list can be pinned so that they are always available in your Pinned list. This is similar to marking something as a Favourite in your browser or mobile phone.
You will notice that the items in your Recent list have a pin icon next to it, as illustrated in the image below.
All you need to do is click on the icon and it will be pinned and available in the Pinned list. This will stay here until you un-pin by clicking on the pin icon in the list.
This great time saving tip reduces the navigation steps needed to locate records that you most frequently need to view.
