How to synchronise sales quotes & orders in both directions between Business Central & Dynamics 365 for Sales

What happens when there are delays in shipments, quantity changes, warehouse stock shortages or any other changes between Business Central and Dynamics 365 Sales synchronised sales quotes and sales orders?  

How do I solve this?

The good news is because sales quotes and sales orders between Business Central and Dynamics 365 Sales are to be synchronised in both directions, you can very easily make updates and they will be synchronized across the system as standard. 

If a customer delays a shipment date or changes the quantity for a product they ordered in Dynamics 365 Sales, any changes you make are automatically processed in Business Central by archiving the sales document and creating new one.  

The same is true for changes in Business Central— so when an expected shipment dates change, the changes are automatically synchronized to Dynamics 365 Sales.  

The Integration Table Mappings page will contain new mappings for sales quote and order header and lines, so when setting up the initial connection for Dynamics 365 Sales, active quotes and orders can be synched between Business Central and Dynamics 365 Sales using Full Synchronization or Match-based coupling.  

How do I get this?

When available – you must enable the Feature Update: Bidirectional Synchronization of Sales Order and Quotes feature in the Feature Management page to use this capability. This feature and existing sales order integrations are mutually exclusive. You can use one or the other, but not both.  (For public preview Mar 2022 and general availability Apr 2022)
