What is Microsoft Copilot?

Microsoft is taking a significant step forward by unifying these capabilities under a single platform known as Microsoft Copilot, designed to be your everyday AI companion.

This unique experience leverages web knowledge, your work-related data, and current PC activities to offer enhanced assistance, all while prioritising your privacy and security.

It seamlessly integrates into Windows 11, Microsoft 365, Edge and Bing and is accessible as an app or via right-click convenience. The goal is to create a unified experience that spans all aspects of your life.

When will Microsoft Copilot be available?

Microsoft Copilot will be available in its initial form as part of the free Windows 11 update, starting on September 26, and will expand to Bing, Edge, and Microsoft 365 Copilot towards the end of the year.

Microsoft is also introducing exciting new features and devices to boost productivity, unleash creativity, and cater to daily needs.

The Windows 11 update boasts over 150 new features, integrating Copilot’s power and AI-driven experiences into apps like Paint, Photos, and Snipping Tool on your Windows PC.

– Copilot in Windows

This will enable you to effortlessly accomplish tasks more easily and efficiently, as it simplifies formerly complex tasks, across all your applications. Accessing Copilot’s capabilities is a seamless experience, as it’s readily available through the taskbar or via the convenient Win+C keyboard shortcut.

– Paint

The Paint application has been improved through the integration of AI, enhancing drawing and digital creation by introducing features like background removal and layers. Additionally, a preview of Cocreator is included, which harnesses the capabilities of generative AI within the Paint app.

– Photos

The Photos application has received AI-driven enhancements, simplifying the photo editing process. One notable addition is the Background Blur feature, which allows you to effortlessly make your photo’s subject stand out.

Moreover, Microsoft has enhanced the search functionality, enabling you to swiftly locate photos stored in your OneDrive (home or personal) accounts based on their content. You can now also search for photos based on their geographical location.

– Snipping tool

In this latest update, the Snipping Tool introduces enhanced methods for capturing on-screen content. You now have the ability to extract specific text content from an image, which can then be pasted into another application.

Additionally, you can conveniently safeguard sensitive information by applying text redaction through text actions on the post-capture screen.

Furthermore, with the inclusion of audio and microphone support, you can now effortlessly record sound while capturing content, simplifying the creation of engaging videos and screen-based content.

– Notepad

Notepad will now automatically save your session, allowing you to close the application without any interruptions or prompts. When you return, you can seamlessly pick up where you left off. The program will automatically restore previously open tabs along with any unsaved content and edits across those tabs.

– Outlook for windows

The updated Outlook for Windows enables you to consolidate and manage multiple email accounts, including Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, and others, all within a single application.

Microsoft have introduced a refreshed File Explorer with modernised elements, including the home screen, address bar, and search box. These updates are designed to enhance your ability to access important content, keep track of file activities, and collaborate seamlessly without the need to open files.

– Windows backup

Windows Backup simplifies the process of migrating to a new Windows 11 PC, making it easier than ever. With this feature, you can seamlessly transfer most of your files, applications, and settings from one PC to another, ensuring that everything is precisely where you left it and configured to your preferences.

These experiences, including Copilot in Windows and more will start to become available on Sept. 26 as part of our latest update to Windows 11, version 22H2.
